How difficult are sliding wardrobe door systems to install?
Full assembly and installation instructions are provided with all sliding door systems therefore only basic DIY skills are required. We deliver the wardrobe doors fully assembled with top and bottom runners already fixed. The tracks will need cutting to the correct length using a hacks saw (preferably a fine tooth blade). You will require around half a day to fit the doors and tracks and an additional day or so if you are also fitting hanging rails and shelving.
What about the interior shelving and hanging rails of the sliding door system?
We can supply shelving and hanging rails only when purchased with a sliding wardrobe doors system.
What is the maximum width the sliding door system can cover?
The maximum length of the top and bottom tracks is 5000mm. However, you may fit an end support panel in the middle, to act as a dividing panel if your wall is longer than this.
How many sliding doors will my sliding system have?
When you input the required width for opening the computer calculates the following amount of doors per width.
Two door system = Up to 1788mm
Three door system = Between 1789mm and 2663mm
Four door system = Between 2664mm and 3537mm
Five door system = Between 3538mm and 4412mm
Six door system = Between 4413mm and 5000mm
My wall width is 3000mm wide, I would prefer a three-door system, do I have to have four doors?
We can manufacture any of our sliding doors which are made with a mirror or wood effect panel up to 1220mm (48 inches) wide. Also any door with coloured glass, frosted squares or frosted lines up to 1066mm (42 inches) wide. Please contact us by telephone or email your requirements so we can calculate an individual price for your bespoke order. When ordering doors this size you must check that there is suitable required access to the room they are being installed in.
The sliding wardrobe system is designed to be installed floor to ceiling. What is the maximum ceiling height?
If you are installing your floor track directly to your floor without the use of floor fillers the maximum ceiling height without the use of ceiling fillers is 2489mm.
My ceiling is much higher than 2489mm. How do I still fit your sliding wardrobe door system?
If the height difference is only very slight, up to about an inch more, then you can either use the adjustment allowed on the door wheels or alternatively fit a floor plinth which you may order through our accessories department or purchase yourself.
If the height difference is much greater than 2489 mm then we recommend that you install ceiling filler first, which is easily done using 3” x 2” timber and then fit a fascia panel in front of this. We will be able to supply you with more detailed literature and information showing exactly how this can be achieved.
The door to my bedroom does not enable me to fit a wall to wall sliding system. How do I get around this?
You can fit an end panel supplied by ourselves which will form in effect a false wall end.
I have measured the height of the bedroom ceiling at both ends of the room and they are not the same.
This is an extremely common problem, rarely do you find ceilings and floors that are perfectly level. The adjustment available on the door rollers allow enough adjustment to cover 99% of floor and wall discrepancies. If the difference in height at one end of the room to the other is as much as a couple of inches then you will need to ascertain if the discrepancy is the ceiling or the floor. If it is the floor which is not level then we would advise laying your floor filler first with packing underneath at the end which is lower, then installing the track on top of this. If it is the ceiling responsible, simply pack the gap at the end which is higher. It is important to always supply us with the smallest ceiling height measurement to ensure the system will fit.
What depth do the sliding door system come out from the back of the bedroom wall?
We recommend about 610mm (two feet) as standard. This allows an overall hanging depth of about 540mm after accounting for the thickness of the doors and tracks. If you are fitting the system wall to wall, you can set the system further apart from the back wall if you prefer extra hanging depth, although we advise the recommended depth above is sufficient.
My bedroom window does not allow us to fit the system out to 610mm.
You can use an end panel which stops the system short of the window, this will form the end of the wardrobe system and not interfere with your curtain rail or window.
Shall I fix my bottom track directly on to the floor?
You can install your bottom track directly on to the floor, although another option which can sometimes make the installation process easier and neater is to first fix a floor plinth, which raises the track 18mm above the floor. This is particularly useful if the floor is uneven allowing you to pack under where floor discrepancies are evident. Also if you are fitting a carpet after it makes a much neater job.
Why would I fit wall plinths?
These are an optional finishing touch. If you are installing the sliding door system to a room that has skirting boards, if you do not cut in to the skirting boards your doors will stop at the skirting board. This usually means that you have a 20mm gap above height of the skirting board between the door and the wall. This can be overcome by fixing the wall plinth above the skirting board up to the ceiling. If you are a perfectionist you can cut a gap 100mm wide in the skirting board in line with the tracks and then fix the wall plinth from floor to ceiling.
My ceiling has a 45 degree slope on the right hand side, what do I do?
You will need to fit a panel from the wall where the slope starts to the point on the ceiling where it levels out. Usually customers use our shelf or end panels for this.
If you are still unsure please do not hesitate to call us for advice by telephone or email, alternatively you may fax a drawing.
